Memphis' Favorite Sports Bars

By , About.com Guide

If you want a place to gather with friends, have a drink, and watch the big game, a sports bar is a great destination. Luckily, Memphis has plenty to choose from. While not every establishment in the list below is strictly a sports bar, each is a great place to catch a game. Most importantly, all of the following are popular among local sports fans.

Brookhaven Pub and Grill

695 W Brookhaven Cir
Memphis, TN 38117
(901) 680-8118

This east Memphis sports bar is a favorite gathering place for many sports fans (expect to see a lot of blue and gray when the Tigers are playing!). They offer a full menu and bar, flat panel plasma and LCD T.V.'s, and a patio that is popular among its regulars.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings is a national chain of sports bar/restaurants. They offer up wings in a wide variety of different flavors, as well as burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The big screen T.V.'s and fun atmosphere make it a great place to watch the game.

Calhoun's Sports Bar

115 E GE Patterson Ave
Memphis, TN 38103
(901) 528-8600

Calhoun's is a neighborhood bar located in the South Main district downtown. It is best known and loved for its beer specials, flat screen televisions, and pizza that is reminiscent of a high school lunchroom. If that's not enough, Calhoun's patrons rave about its friendly and efficient bartenders.

Dru's Place

1474 Madison Ave.
Memphis, TN 38104
(901) 275-8082

This lesbian sports bar in Midtown uses the slogan, "Where women and sports collide." In addition to several big screen televisions, Dru's Place offers pool tables, darts, an outdoor patio, and live music.

Fox and Hound

Fox and Hound is a chain of sports bars that caters, in particular, to young professionals. The bars offer over 100 types of beers, multiple big screen televisions, pool tables, dart boards, cigars, and food that is a little nicer than typical pub grub.

Hooters

Sure, Hooters restaurants tune their T.V.'s to the big games. And yes, their wings are awesome and their beer is plentiful. But, uh, is that really why all the sports fans like to hang out there?

Memphis Sports Pub

5012 Park Avenue
Memphis, TN 38117
(901) 767-8632

Now this is a serious sports bar. It boasts nearly 20 televisions and crowds of enthusiastic sports fans. It serves up typical pub grub but also offers a selection of low-carb menu items. If things get a little rowdy downstairs, Memphis Sports Pub also has an upstairs area that tends to be a little quieter.

T.J. Mulligan's

Click here for four Memphis metro locations

T.J. Mulligan's is a popular local hang-out for a number of reasons. First, the Irish themed pub serves up some decent pub grub. It also has a full bar with a nice beer selection and live music some nights. It made the sports bar list because of its multiple televisions and impressive gatherings of Titans, Grizzlies, and Tigers fans.
