By far, the easiest way to obtain a new or updated Social Security card is to print out a Social Security card application from the Administration's website. You can then mail it in along with documentation proving your identity (a list of accepted documentation will print out along with the application). The one drawback to this method is that original documents must be used to prove your identity -- photocopies are not accepted. While these documents will be returned to you, it may be difficult to wait weeks to get your passport, driver's license, or other important documentation back.
