Answer: Yes. HOV -- or, high occupancy vehicle -- lanes are for cars carrying two or more people during designated times. In Memphis, we have two areas of Interstate with HOV lanes.
- I-40 from Sycamore View Road to Highway 64
Westbound, the leftmost lane is reserved for HOV's from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
Eastbound, the leftmost lane is reserved for HOV's from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. - I-55 from the Mississippi State Line to I-240
Northbound, the leftmost lane is reserved for HOV's from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
Southbound, the leftmost lane is reserved for HOV's from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
