Beale Street Music Festival

First Weekend in May, Annually

The Memphis in May International Festival kicks off with the Beale Street Music Festival, which is three days, Friday through Sunday, of concerts by big-name musical acts, some throwback artists, and popular performers from the honored country.

Music lovers enjoy a jam-packed lineup of rock, hip-hop, alternative, blues, and soul on three stages, plus a blues tent, and blues shack, with the headliners performing at night.

It usually rains, so be prepared, and while the park is family-friendly during the day, it is not recommended that children attend the Music Festival after dark.  This is rock-n-roll, after all, and the crowd can get wild.

Food and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase from vendors, and there is a list of rules as to what is not allowed in the park, available on the Memphis in May website.

There is usually a long line to get in the park, but you may gain quicker admission if you buy your tickets in advance.  You can also expect to wade through mud and to wait in line for beer and to use the restroom, but it may well be worth the trouble to see some of your favorite musicians live.

For specific details, this year's lineup, and ticket information, visit the Memphis in May website.
