St. Patrick's Day on Beale Street

St. Patrick's Day on Beale Street is a big celebration that brings the luck of the Irish to Memphis each year.

The festivities begin annually on the Friday before St. Patrick's Day, with Silky O'Sullivan's serving as headquarters for many of the activities.

There is green beer, the blessing of the kegs, a parade on Beale Street that begins on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and a pub crawl that follows.

The celebration continues through the weekend with leprechauns, bagpipers, and Silky O'Sullivan's eccentric raising of the goat until the luck -- or green beer -- runs out.th.
