Guide Review - Texas Roadhouse

My first experience with Texas Roadhouse was in Nashville more than a year ago. When I saw that they had opened a location in Memphis, I was thrilled. I do not usually review national chains, but if a restaurant exceeds my expectations, I make an exception. Texas Roadhouse does just that.

Upon walking through the door, my party and I were greeted warmly by several staff members. It was a weekday evening, so we were seated immediately. A friendly server took our drink orders and returned with them promptly. She told us that our waiter would be with us momentarily -- and he was. He was extraordinarily polite and pleasant and when asked, made suggestions on what to order.

Just a few minutes after taking our orders, our waiter was back with my son's meal. Apparently familiar with the toddler crowd, he knew my son might get antsy while the rest of us waited for our meals.

It wasn't long before the other meals were brought out. My sirloin was cooked perfectly to medium, just as I ordered it. In fact, every steak at the table was exactly as it was ordered, something that does not always happen at a steakhouse. So my meal consisted of an eight ounce sirloin, a baked potato, house salad, and hot dinner rolls -- all for $9.99. That's a pretty good deal, in my opinion.

Our waiter returned frequently, though not intrusively, to check on us and to refill our drinks. At the end of the meal, he promptly brought us the check. We were far too full to even consider dessert, though the offerings were meager anyway. The dessert menu consisted of: strawberry cheesecake, a brownie, and Granny's Apple Classic. We didn't feel like we were missing out on much by skipping dessert.

If you have not yet visited Texas Roadhouse, give it a try. It is my new favorite steakhouse.
