Guide Review - Golden India
For whatever reason, though, it wasn't until recently that I finally stopped in at Golden India for dinner. It was 7:30 on a Saturday night and while there were plenty of customers inside, my husband and I did not have to wait to be seated. We were led to a back table where we had a nice view of Madison Avenue.
Now, I must admit that I have eaten Indian food only a handful of times in my life so I am still not familiar with many of the exotic dishes. After reading the descriptions in the menu, I finally chose the Shrimp Korma and ordered it mild. My husband settled on the Chicken Patiala, also mild. In addition, we ordered a basket of garlic naan, a soft Indian bread. Our meal arrived, accompanied by basmati rice, which was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes seemed a bit small at first glance but we discovered quickly how filling they were.
Our final bill came to less than $30.00 (not including gratuity), which is certainly no more than we would have spent at any other casual restaurant. The difference is, we enjoyed a more romantic atmosphere and we did not have to wait to be seated. All in all, we had a lovely evening and a delicious meal.
