Upon entering the winery, guests are greeted warmly and invited to sample Old Millington's wines, some of which have won regional awards. If you want to sample more than one wine, oyster crackers are provided to cleanse the palate between samples. Personally, I loved the strawberry wine. It is sweet, but light, and truly tastes like strawberries. Of course, the winery also produces dry and semi-dry wines, as well.
In addition to wine, Old Millington also serves up live music on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., April through October. Guests are invited to bring a picnic and lawn chairs, and bottles of chilled wine are offered for sale during the event.
Finally, if you are thinking of trying your hand at winemaking, Old Millington Vineyard and Winery offers a small selection of wine making supplies.
So the next time you're out for a Sunday afternoon drive, or just need a bottle of wine for your next get together, you might want stop in at Old Millington Vineyard and Winery. And don't forget to try the strawberry wine!
