It's a Heat Wave!

Here in the Mid-South, we are experiencing this summer's hottest days. With high temperatures near or at 100 degrees Farenheit, it is downright miserable outside. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the next couple of days. As the temperatures are expected to remain high through the end of the week, the advisory will likely be extended.
Because of the extreme heat and ever-present humidity, it is possible to get overheated quickly. To avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke, stay indoors as much as possible. When outside, wear light colored clothing and drink plenty of fluids. As always when spending time outdoors, apply plenty of sunscreen.

Tennessee Sales Tax Holiday

It is almost time once again for Tennessee's annual Sales Tax Holiday. The tax holiday will run from Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3. This is a great opportunity to save some money while you do your back-to-school shopping. Items that are exempt include clothing under $100, diapers, school supplies, and computers under $1,500. New for 2007, some art supplies -- including clay, paints, and drawing pads -- are also now exempt. For more information, check out the resources below:

Did you know that today is National Ice Cream Day? In 1984, President Ronald Regan proclaimed that the third Sunday in July would be National Ice Cream Day and that the month of July would be National Ice Cream Month!
