On Saturday, Punxsutawney Phil will emerge from his burrow to predict whether there will be six more weeks of winter or if spring is right around the corner. Here in Memphis, the weather has been a bit unpredictable all season long. We've had ice, we've had rain, we've had 70 degree days.
Another prediction for winter weather can be found in the Old Farmer's Almanac. According to its long range forecast, we can still expect a bit of snow this winter--sporadically throughout February and then again in mid-March. While March might seem late for snow, we've experienced some impressive snowfalls during the month of March over the years. Not only that, but the two biggest snowfalls in Memphis history both happened in March.
We'll see what Phil says on Saturday but in the meantime, enjoy the winter while it lasts. Spring will be here soon enough.
