This sweet little face is that of Maurice Brown, Jr., a three-year-old boy who disappeared on Sunday near downtown Memphis. According to the news report, his father was napping and awoke to find the child missing. Perhaps the most disheartening thing about the case is that the father--an admitted gang member--has expressed concern that his son might have been taken by a rival gang.
As a mother, there is little more terrifying to me than the thought of one of my children going missing. Unfortunately, there are all too many missing children and adults from right here in the Memphis area.
With that in mind, take a look at Maurice's picture and then keep your eyes open. You just never know...you might be the one to help bring this child home safely.
Update: On Monday evening, Maurice's father was arrested and charged with aggravated child neglect. A significant amount of blood was found in the family's apartment and a witness reported seeing the father leaving the apartment carrying little Maurice. Investigators believe the child suffered serious injury or was killed.
