The latest organization to get hit by city budget cuts is the Memphis Public Library. It was announced this week that 43 part-time employees would be laid off and many branches would begin opening later and closing earlier. As it is, library workers are already subject to the 4.6% decrease in pay that is affecting all city employees.
New hours are being instituted at the following branches: Central, Cherokee, Cordova, East Shelby, Frayser, Hollywood, Levi, North, Parkway Village, Poplar-White Station, Randolph, Raleigh, South, and Whitehaven.
For complete hours of operation and branch locations, please see our Memphis library information page.
