The New Fair in Town

Friday September 25, 2009

Who knew that Memphis needed three fairs? If you're having trouble keeping up, let's recap. There is the Delta Fair which made its debut in 2007. It appeared on the scene while the Mid-South Fair was still going strong at the Fairgrounds.

Then this year, the Mid-South Fair relocated to DeSoto County. And now, almost out of nowhere, a new fair has cropped up at the former site of the Mid-South Fair!

This new fair, Memphest, will be held at the Mid-South Fairgrounds from September 25-October 4, 2009. Like the Mid-South Fair before it, Memphest features food, rides, games, and concerts. What's missing, however, are the livestock, baking, and sewing competitions, that are reminiscent of a country fair.
