Another Mysterious Disappearance

Friday January 9, 2009
It seems like every time I turn on the news these days, someone else has disappeared mysteriously from the Memphis area. On December 12, it was Kelly Duane Berg who called a friend to report his own abduction. Then, just a few days later, Ted Aya-ay left for work and vanished without a trace.

On New Year's Day, it was Valois Jones-Dunlap who went missing. The 51 year old was reportedly out running errands and was expected to pick up her grandchildren from day care. She never arrived. A few days later, her car was found on Texas Street -- burned, but with no trace of Ms. Jones-Dunlap.

Valois Jones-Dunlap is an African-American female. She is 5'9" and 190 lbs. The word "LOIS" is tattooed on her right leg.

If you have any information regarding this case, please call the Memphis Police Department at (901) 636-4448.

I have considered relocating to Memphis, but after reading the article about several disappearances and the availability to purchase handguns I am having second thoughts about the move. I am wondering how safe is it to live in Memphis or its suburbs. I am not reassured by this report.
