Search Renewed for Missing Woman

By November 12, 2008

UPDATE: On Saturday morning, officials found human skeletal remains approximately 200 yards from where Ms. Ferguson's car was discovered. Although positive identification has not yet been made, it is presumed that the remains are those of Elizabeth Ferguson.

The search for a missing elderly Memphis woman has been renewed after the discovery of her car. Elizabeth Ferguson disappeared on May 5, 2008 after leaving her Berclair home to go to a doctor's appointment. She never arrived. Now, six months later, the 86 year old woman's Mercury Sable has been found on a desolate dirt road near T.O. Fuller State Park in the southwest corner of the city. Memphis police are searching the woods in the vicinity of the abandoned car and call Ms. Ferguson's disappearance "suspicious."

It is frightening to note that each year, thousands of people are reported missing in Memphis. Fortunately, most of those people are found or eventually come home on their own. There are some, however, that remain missing, leaving their loved ones to hope and pray for their safe returns. Click here to see more of Memphis' missing persons.

Please do remember the family of Ms. Ferguson in your prayers. They are going through a really tough time not knowing where she is.

I’m sure they are. The hardest part must be not knowing what has happened to her.
